Yesterday, Cyd Charisse passed away from an reported heart attack. She was 86. Cyd, born Tula Ellice Finklea, was given her nickname “Sid” at a young age when one of her siblings tried to call her “sis.” She later changed the spelling to Cyd.
Cyd was one of the worlds legendary screen actors. Cyd starred in “The Harvey Girls”, “The Kissing Bandit”, “Singin’ in the Rain”, “The Band Wagon”, “Brigadoon”, “Deep in My Heart”, “It’s Always Fair Weather”, and “Meet Me in Las Vegas” (just to name a few).
Cyd was married to Tony Martin. The marriage lasted almost 60 years. Cyd’s movies will always be treasures, and I bet she is dancing in heaven right now!
