Michael Vick Sentenced to Prision
Michael Vick has been sentenced to 23 months in prison for his role in a dogfighting ring.

Michael Vick will most likely try to make a comeback to save his career in a few years when he gets out of jail. His days of the QB is over for all practical purposes but we bet there will be a lot of protest and lots of inside buzz from the league to leave his on the sidelines. Technically, the NFL can still suspend him for time after the sentence and a state case in Virginia could add more time onto his sentence, but we doubt the state will get that far.

Dressed in a black-and-white striped prison uniform, Michael Vick softly told the court:

“I would like to apologize to the court, to my family, to my kids, for what I have done.”

Vick, who turned himself in to federal officials on November 19 to begin serving his time in prison, received a higher-than-expected sentence. Prosecutors had originally asked the judge for 12 to 18 months.

Prosecutors said Vick was not forthcoming in questioning about his participation in the hands-on killing of dogs, saying the football player had failed a lie-detector test.

I am very happy that Michael Vick will be spending 23 months in Federal Prison! My heart goes out to those poor dogs that had and still have to endure the cruelty of dog fighting! If the NFL decides to ever take him back, my days of watching football are over. As much as I love the sport, I could never condone an organization that promotes a horrible man like Michael Vick. I hope our legislators work extra hard to crack down on other less famous criminals who are involved with dog fighting as well as cock-fighting. I’m glad to see Mike Vick admit that what he did was wrong and promise to make amends. I hope he was sincere. Maybe when he gets out of prison he can work to educate people about staying away from dog fighting.
